As a resident of Vancouver Island, I can confidently say that there are so many amazing places to visit here. From stunning natural landscapes to charming towns and villages, the island has something for everyone. Here are a few of my favorite places to visit on Vancouver Island:
- Tofino: Located on the western coast of the island, Tofino is a surfer’s paradise and a great destination for outdoor enthusiasts. It’s known for its beautiful beaches, rainforests, and whale watching opportunities. Don’t miss a chance to visit Pacific Rim National Park and take a surf lesson or go bear watching.
- Victoria: Victoria, the capital city of British Columbia, is located on the southern tip of Vancouver Island. It’s a charming city with a rich history and a range of attractions, including the famous Butchart Gardens, the Royal BC Museum, and the inner harbor. Take a stroll through the cobblestone streets of the historic Old Town and try some of the city’s delicious seafood.
- Nanaimo: Located on the central east coast of the island, Nanaimo is a gateway to some of the island’s most beautiful parks and forests. It’s also home to the famous Nanaimo Bars, a delicious layered dessert made with graham cracker crust, custard filling, and chocolate topping. Take a hike in Mount Benson Provincial Park or visit the Departure Bay Beach for a picnic.
- Cowichan Valley: The Cowichan Valley, located on the east coast of the island, is home to some of the island’s best wineries and breweries. It’s also a great place to go hiking, biking, or fishing. Don’t miss a chance to visit the Cowichan Bay Maritime Centre and learn about the region’s rich marine history.
